The TISC ReActiv8® Programme

The TISC ReActiv8® Programme provides a safe, effective, and durable treatment for patients with mechanical Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP). Through thoughtfully designed steps, patients on the TISC ReActiv8® Programme experience support across a unique sequence of consultations to increase the likelihood of a successful outcome.  

Education

  • Group education session by a Device Expert and a Counsellor
  • (Optional) 1-1 education session by a Device Expert
  • Introduction to related research projects by a Researcher

 

Assessment

  • Functional examination and assessments by an Exercise Physiologist
  • Wellbeing and pain assessments by a Counsellor
  • Identify suitability for ReActiv8®

Review & Consent

  • Medical review of all previous assessments and workup review by Spinal Surgeon
  • Health optimisation review
  • Informed consent

Optimisation

  • Optimise factors across medicine, movement, and mind

Procedure

  • ReActiv8® device implantation by a Surgeon
  • Overnight hospital stay

Post Procedure

  • Recovery support
  • Device activation (2 weeks post implantation)
  • Progress review and device adjustments (6 weeks post implantation)

Longer Term Follow-Up

  • Progress review and device adjustments (3, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months post implantation)

The ReActiv8® Device

The Mainstay ReActiv8® stimulator works differently from existing spinal cord stimulator devices and is therefore a suitable treatment in different scenarios. It is designed to stimulate the nerves that activate the muscles that stabilise the lower back to deliver Restorative Neurostimulation­™. Other stimulator devices are designed to ‘mask’ pain signals.
